The mcba.ini file is to be located in the workstations "windows" directory (winnt or windows typically). It contains the name of the user and workstation number Quantum will use in audit trails and queued reports. Copy an mcba.ini file from someone's workstation that is already using Quantum. This way most of the values are already entered -- you will only need to make minimal changes.

STN enter a unique number to identify this specific PC workstation
USERNAME enter up to 12 characters to identify this user by name
LOGNAME same as USERNAME
MCBADATA path to the drive that the "syfiles" directory is located on
MCBASERVER the tcp/ip address of your server (pingable from here)

| 2. Declare SET and PATH statements |
|
You can add the two PATH statements and two SET statements to the PCs Environmental Variables. There are a few ways to do this -- one way is to right click "My Computer" and select "Properties". Click "Advance" and you should see this screen:

Click the Environment Variables tab and you will see the following screen:

This is the screen where you will ADD 2 SET STATEMENTS and ADD 2 PATH VARIABLES. ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES
Click "NEW" and type these two SET statements
|
Variable Name: |
runpath |
Variable Value: |
sy5ex |
|
Variable Name: |
sp2cfg |
Variable Value: |
q:\sp2dir\sp2mcba.cfg |
Modify the existing "Path" variable name and add the two path statements for runtime9 and sp2dir to the variable value:

Be certain you add to this path statement -- do not replace it. The two items you will add to this statement are:
When finished your Environment Variables screen should have the two set statements and path variables displayed. If you also use an autoexec.bat or autoexec.nt we believe that replaces these variables -- so make certain there is not a rogue autoexec.bat file in the root, winnt or winnt/system32 directories.

You have seen references to a drive letter "Q:" in the previous steps. At this point you should map this PC to the desired network drive. If you cannot use Q: then pick another drive letter and change the appropriate values in steps 1 & 2.
|
|
Make certain the PC functions normally after rebooting AND the drive letter you mapped in step #3 attaches properly
|
| 5. Create your Quantum ICON |
|
Right click on the PCs desktop and select "new" and then select "shortcut". Fill out the command line with q:\runtime9\runc.exe sydriver.cob

click next and then type in "Quantum" for the name and then click Finish.
|
| 6. Change Two Properties of the ICON |
|
Right click the newly created ICON and select Properties. You will need to change the "Start In" directory by removing the reference to runtime9.

The second item you may wish to change is the ICON. To associate the standard Quantum icon with this shortcut press "Change Icon". You can browse and find the Quantum icon in the q:\sp2dir directory. It should look like
|
| 7. Register the Runtime in the windows registry |
|
This is a very necessary step with the 32bit Quantum windows runtime. To do this you must type a command from a dos prompt. The command is:
runc /regserver
("runc" space "/regserver")
Type in the command and then press Enter. You should see a message that indicates
the registration of the runtime server succeeded.
If you do not see this message then check your path statement for the runtime9 directory, check the spelling on all your path statements, check your spelling on the command you just issued and check that you entered a "forward slash" in the runc /regserver command. If you still do not see this message then contact Geneva's support department at (336) 275-8887.
