| CASE STUDY: Sandhills Mental Health Center |

Sandhills is a client of Creative Socio-Medics and is located in West End, North Carolina (Pinehurst area). In early 1999 they began looking for a financial accounting system to replace their character based CSM accounting software. CSM, like many of the other clinical billing vendors, sunsetted their accounting system. The CFO and staff at Sandhills reviewed and evaluated several software packages including Great Plains and Quantum. Sandhills chose Quantum over Great Plains for several reasons including:

- Quantum was about 1/3 the cost of Great Plains
- Quantum has been tailored to accommodate some specific allocation and processing requirements commonly found in the mental and behavioral healthcare environment
- Sandhills liked the feedback about Geneva's ability to support them
- Geneva already installed Quantum at one of the larger North Carolina mental health agencies - Vance, Granville, Franklin, Warren Area authority
- Quantum seemed "better scaled" to Sandhills' size and easier to use

Sandhills Mental Health licensed Quantum General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payroll and System Management modules in January of 1999. Geneva delivered onsite training throughout February and March and our client was up-and-running in May. Geneva also agreed to add several features to Quantum that would help the people at Sandhills use the system more efficiently. Such modifications included:

Created a North Carolina Multiple Worksite payroll report

In early 2003 Sandhills merged with Randolph County Mental Health. Randolph was using CMHC software and the decision to move them to Quantum was easy. Now the Sandhills MH Center provides services to individuals throughout six counties - Anson, Hoke, Richmond, Randolph, Montgomery and Moore. Representatives from Geneva have also been attending the NC FARO (Finance and Reimbursement Officers) conferences in Asheville, NC each year. Tom Vincent, President of Geneva, states:
"We are developing a Quantum user community in North Carolina much like we did in Georgia. This way we can sponsor and attend periodic user group conferences and stay in touch with our clients individually and as a group to address any state-specific needs. Our clients are very receptive to meeting and networking with other MH/MR/SA/DD users in their own areas."
